Behind the Scenes at the Alerin Barn Wedding Inspiration Photo Shoot

A big hat tip to the talented Meg Simone for this ‘behind the scenes’ film she made about the wedding inspiration photo shoot at Alerin Barn. Every time I watch I am reminded of how rewarding this project has been!

The shoot was a collaboration that started when Meg Hamilton, Meg Simone and I agreed to join creative forces and put on our own wedding inspiration photo shoot. The three of us have enjoyed working alongside each other, and knew that we work together well. The Alerin Barn is a favorite venue, so there was no question where the shoot should take place. More area vendors got on board, and it all came together beautifully!

Inspiration shoots have two purposes. They supply our clients with new ideas that they may not see in magazines and ususal wedding planning sources. But they also are a way for designers to raise the bar for ourselves, so we stay at the top of our game. That means approaching ideas from new angles and creating new challenges for ourselves, so that when a client asks for the unexpected, we are ready to pull it off.

My challenge was to install a fresh flower table runner that ran the length of the room’s largest table. To complement the French rustic wedding theme, roughly 200 flowers were used in the cascading runner of hydrangeas and peonies. The effect is both elegant and decadent, while not blocking guests’ views. We love the both look and the nice floral scent.
